2015 Regional Competition with David Wallace, director

We won AA First Place and will compete in 2016 Harmony Classic!

Sounds of Pittsburgh scored 618 points at our regional competition this May. That gave us a 2nd place overall and first place in our midsize (AA) chorus division. Our score was high enough to place us at the International Harmony Classic competition in 2016. We will be competing in Las Vegas on October 18, 2016 at the MGM Grand.

It’s Contest Season

The chorus is getting ready for our Regional Competition this year — 8 weeks away! We’re putting the finishing touches on our choreography, music, costumes and getting ready for a great chorus retreat later this month. Our website has links posted in the sidebar for tickets and other details if you would like to see us live.

Regional Contest Awards

We are happy to announce our Region 17 Contest results: The Sounds of Pittsburgh Chorus is the 2011 1st Place Midsize chorus and 2nd Place chorus for the region.

Congratulations also to Dynasty, who won 2nd Place in the Quartet competition this year. (Lets hope they like the color red!)

It was a great contest and we heard some wonderful singing by our colleagues in the region. Our best wishes go to Greater Cleveland Chorus for winning first place in the chorus competition and TGIF for their first place finish in the quartet competition. Go get ’em at International! We are proud of them both — even if they are from Cleveland… 😉

Contest is One Week Away

We’re fired up about our first contest with a new director, new songs and a lot of great energy and talent from our coaches and singers! You have a chance to hear us perform before the big day this Monday night. Our Friends and Family performance will be at 8:30pm Monday May 16th at the Coraopolis United Methodist Church. We will all be there with our glitter and dance shoes 🙂

Looking Ahead to May’s Competition

Today was the drawing for the order of appearance at out Regional contest. Our chorus will sing 12th in the chorus competition this year on May 21st in Cleveland.

Members of our chorus will also be competing in the quartet competition on Friday May 20:

Just 4 Chix (contestant #3)
Tapestry (contestant #4)
Dynasty (contestant #11)

Retreat Was Great!

Our chorus is revved up and ready to go for our May competition after spending the weekend with Jim Arns (Director of the Melodeers) and our new director, David Wallace!

We spent many productive hours working on our contest music… and several more hours eating good food, visiting with each other, and entertaining each other at our show. Hats off to our Retreat Committee and our Mistress of Ceremonies Lisa Husar for another fine retreat!
