The Sounds of Pittsburgh chorus is an award-winning women’s a cappella chorus from the Greater Pittsburgh area. We are a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop four-part harmony.
While our chorus offers educational opportunities to its members, we also serve the community through shows and other events throughout the Pittsburgh area.
Sounds of Pittsburgh is a past championship chorus, having represented our four-state region six times on the thrilling international contest stage from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Most recently we competed on the International stage in Nashville in 2009.
The women who are currently members of the chorus come from more than forty communities in the tri-state area to sing with this high-caliber performing chorus. Some members live as close as the City of Pittsburgh or Moon Township. Some hail from Tarentum and Export in the east, Morgantown, West Virginia, to the south, Youngstown, Ohio, and Beaver, Pennsylvania, to the west and Butler in the north. Our membership includes teachers, secretaries, students, homemakers, business owners, retirees and many more. The only thing missing is YOU!
Open Rehearsals – Every Monday Evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. unless noted in the events calendar.
|The Sounds of Pittsburgh Chorus enthusiastically invites women to join us at our Monday night rehearsals. Physical and vocal warm-ups begin at 7:00 p.m., and the singing ends at 9:30 p.m. An exciting hobby, barbershop singing fills that creative niche for women who want to sing, dance, compete, wear fabulous costumes, and learn about show production. Reading music isn’t necessary–learning tracks are provided to aid members to quickly learn the chorus music. Come see for yourself. You’ll find in us a welcoming spirit and a real community dedicated to doing our best and having fun.|
